Infant Program

Koala Room

Our Koala room is a classroom for infants ranging in age from six weeks to eighteen months, and has 10 infants and 4 full time teachers. The goal of this classroom is to transform and improve the quality of care for infants and provide them longer-term relationships with nurturing teachers in well-equipped classrooms, rich in appropriate experiences. Teachers will be able to extend the curriculum based on their in-depth knowledge of the individual child. Families and teachers create a partnership that draws on one another’s knowledge of the children, creating continuity between home and school environments. Infants not only participate in activities such as tummy time, singing, storybooks and manipulatives, they also are engaged in daily learning experiences, such as art, sensory, and gross-motor activities.

Toddler Program

Penguin and Honeybee Rooms

Our Toddler Program is designed to allow toddlers to discover their independence in a secure yet stimulating environment. The activities offered encourage the children to enjoy new experiences by building on what they are already comfortable with. The teachers are available in the room to encourage independence and self-help skills, to share the “ah-ha” moments, and the times when the children need comfort. The Toddler Program works under the same philosophy and curriculum goals as the other rooms at NBCC. Our curriculum is specifically designed to enhance children’s natural development progression. In everything we do, we aim to maintain our primary goal of being a child-centered program. We observe the child’s interests and curiosities and plan all of our activities around them

Preschool Program

Butterfly, Rainbow and Wonder rooms

The preschool curriculum continues to offer a variety of play-based exploration and discovery experiences designed to help children construct their own knowledge of the world. Daily science, math, sensory, creative art, music, and literacy activities expand children’s developing concepts and complement the rich social and emotional understanding of our environment. Long term projects add excitement and commitment. The children spend a total of 1.5 hours outside every day, weather permitting. The mixed-age groups of 3 to 5 year olds encourages the younger children to learn from those older than them as well as for the older children to mentor and nurture the younger children. It helps them appreciate different abilities and patience as new skills are learned.

Pre-K Program

Star Room

Our pre-k room is designed for children who will benefit from a play-based classroom that builds more structure into the environment and activities. We embrace each child’s unique qualities and interest to incorporate developmentally appropriate, play-based activities. The star teachers strive to promote an increased independence in your child while preparing for kindergarten. While at North Broadway Children’s Center, your child will build on their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.

About our environment:

The rooms are divided into several areas that help promote child development and uphold Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards.  While the room arrangement may occasionally change, the purpose of each space remains the same- to nurture the children’s interests, support their ideas, and build on their existing knowledge.
